Default trailer wiring

Not sure where to go....I have factory installed wiring, (bot 7 and 4 pin). Park, brake and right ok, but no left brake and signal. Read through other threads and checked fuses and ok. Checked wiring and where they conected the trailer wiring to the harness there is a white wire with a brown line sticking out...should this be the ground? Any help would be appreciated. Took a couple of pics....hope they attach ok. Can't really tell but the end of the white and brown wire looks to be capped?? Also, I could not find a ground wire in the area of the harness.

I think brown is usually tail lights. What did you use as a diagnostic that your brake and turn weren't working? Did you hook up the trailer and it didn't work? If so, check your trailer wiring, I would suspect it over your truck. If you used a test plug, make sure all your contact on your truck are clean, and try again. If you have access to a multi-meter, use it to see if you are getting voltage in the plug first, and then if not, in the wire. If you have power to the wire, then there is a connection issue at the plug. If not, then you will have to trace the wire to find where the short/break is and fix it. This will work on the trailer too. If you plug is good on the truck, hook up the trailer and trace the wires to find where the circuit is broken.

used trailer wire test plug. I suspect I may have to trace where the 7 and 4 pin conect to the harness as the left turn and brake do not work on either. The big question is could the white wire,(with brown stripe), be a ground not attached?

If your ground wasn't connected, none of the lights would work.
