I am 80% happy with my 4.7L. Not happy with highway shifting up hills, but love the flex fuel. E-85 here in upstate NY is 3.19/gal where gas is 3.90/gal. I average 14 mpg on the highway with E-85, which comes out to $4.38/mi. I average 17 mpg with gas, which comes out to $4.35/mi. With no major loss of power. So, if gas keeps going up (which it will), E-85 is better on the wallet. Plus, I'm sticking it to Big Oil, it's better for the environment, and my exhaust smells like dinner

You're in for a shock if you think gas is going to keep going down (it's been going up if you haven't noticed). Expect $5.00/gallon within 6 months. That puts E85 around $4.00/gallon. Also, ethanol fuel drives up the price of the food, as it reduces the supply since many farmers make more on selling it for fuel than for food.

Your truck, but typically the cost/mile is less with gas(even E10) vs E85.

EDIT: Nm I read your post wrong....duh...

Yeah, when the price of gas goes up the price of E-85 should only increase slightly (theoretically).

Problem is.. it doesnt.. E-85 goes up just as much as Gas does so you always end up paying about the same if not more for E-85. This pisses me off - I have had too many rants about E-85 so I think I'll just leave this one.

I haven't seen an increase in E-85 in over a year! In that year, gas has been as low as $3.42 and as high as $4.05 here in NY. And E-85 has stayed at $3.19. Plus, our E-85 is processed here in NY. The owner of the gas station I get E-85 from seems to think that E-85 will start coming down in price. Field crops have occupied more than 90% of the crop acreage in New York. And farmers have taken the increase in demand for fuel crops into consideration. IMO, E-85 is just a better choice in NY. I guess NY is just lucky in that aspect. That's about the only good thing about this state

Hi. I'm new here.
I really like my 2005 ram 4.7L.
I would have liked to have the H.O 4.7L on my 2005. That would be the only thing that I like about the 2008 ram. Other than that, I love my truck. Like the head lights of the 2005 and under. Really like the fact that it has a stick shift for the 4x4 instead of the knob and of course, I prefer a cable driven throttle body. Last but not least, the reason why I went with my 4.7 is: manual transmision. I had the choice between a 2008 1500 hemi, 2008 1500 H.O 4.7 and a 2005 1500 4.7. I have instantly deleted the choice of the hemi. Yes they do have awesome power but the lack of a manual transmission was a deal breaker. It was a tough call between the 2008 and the 2005. A slight more power on the 08 for sure but I just couldn't get over the fact that again, it doesn't have a 4x4 shifter lever. The knob for the 4x4 was my deal breaker.
Weird out of the 3, the 2005 was the one with the least amount of miles and the cheapest.
So yes, I'm very content with my truck!!!

Yeah I prefer to drive a manual also.. unfortunately it wasn't an option for my 2010. Glad you like your truck but the poll is really more focused on the 4.7L vs the 5.7L Hemi engine for our trucks. Sounds like you are happy with your truck though and for that
