^ yea but that 5-10mph on my 900 mile trip from Ga to Kansas City when I go home cuts almost 2 hours off the drive!

Yep it's give and take. What's worth more, time or money? You'd save probably about 9 gallons per trip, at $4/gal that's about $36 savings per trip. When I travel I usually cruise at 65-75mph, depending on time constraints.

Got a 2012 Outdoorsman and I'm really happy with the 4.7 and 3.92. Plenty of power but I'm not towing or hauling much and don't care about thrilling acceleration in my truck. My truck is my everyday driver and the 4.7 is a great motor for me. I drove my 1998 Laramie for the last 15 years so this motor is a significant upgrade. I plan on keeping this one as long as the last one.

Disclaimer: I love the Hemi and have one in my 2009 Grand Cherokee Overland.

I've had my 09 QC 4.7 for about three weeks now and love it. The only complaint I have is that it's a little weak off the line. But, I'm also comparing it to my 99 RC Sport with the 5.9. My 99 would absolutely get gone off the line faster, but after 2,500 RPM, the 4.7 would kill it. I haven't had a chance to tow with it yet, so can't compare that. Too many people want to hook a 6,000 lbs trailer to their truck and still do 0-60 in 6 seconds, and then complain when they blow a motor at 50,000 miles. I'm a firm believer that there is no replacement for displacement, so the 5.7 would have been nice, but the MDS, VVT and all that other stuff scares me. I'm still looking for the dang 4x4 shift lever in my new one...but liking the 4.7. It's a truck, so I don't even bother checking MPG's.

^You would probably be very happy with a tuner. The superchips 93 octane tune adds like 60+ hp and 67 lbft of torque max gains. It makes a pretty big difference in off the line power with the tune. The 91 and 87 tunes also make a big difference over stock.

Is there a tuner for the 2012 4.7 Ram?

I don't see one yet.

just threw a superchips flashpaq in my 08 4.7, running it on 91 tune and it hauls. My buddy just bought an 08 hemi today so i will end up racing him here in a bit and see what the results are. my opinion is 4.7 if your not towing and hemi if you are, but really if your towing a heavy load diesel sounds just about right. So what im wondering is why people go with the hemi, unless they find a good deal on it? i know the 02-07 4.7's are a little gutless with 235 hp but the 08 sits at 310hp, with a tuner its just amazing!

Hey guys just found this forum. I have a 2004 4 door with the 4.7 and it kills me that the thing downshifts going up the smallest hills. I drive alot (25,000 miles in the last 8 months). I have to pull a small 6x10 trailer maybe 3 times a year so towing is not really a major concern. My thing is the down shifting, I freaking hate it!!! I was going to order a superchips flashpaq, JBA headers, offroad y-pipe, catback and airraid intake tomorrow will this combo fix the downshifting issue? I got a heck of a deal when I bought the truck thats why I settled for the 4.7 but if I can't find a way to get the power up on this thing I'm going to trade it for a 6.0 GM truck. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

You'll gain a little power with those mods. The flashpaq will adjust shift points which you will probably like better. You can also then purchase the advanced trans tuning for a small fee and make your own shift points.

Sounds to me like I should just start looking for a 6.0 GM or a Titan.
