That sure doesn't seem right. You should get at least like 14mpg. Yeah maybe check with the dealer.

While I'm at it, I thought I'd ask another question. I have the Flex Fuel on the '11 Ram (4.7L) and E85 is cheaper. But, I've read the mpg goes down and I'm afraid the ethanol will crud up my fuel system. Any thoughts. I'm currently running 87 octane (owner's manual recommended) and as I posted eariler, I get 15.9mpg. Not bad, and I didn't buy it for fuel mileage. So is there anything gained by running E85. Can you safely switch back and forth?

I would never run E85 in my vehicle, it's not good for it. They do say you can "safely" run it, but again I wouldn't. Your mileage seems about right.

I dont know how much truth there is to it but when I was looking at trucks I tried out a Avalanche FFV (before buying my Ram) & the salesman said he has driven a Avalanche with both E85 and Regular 87 octane, he said you can notice more power on ethanol but fuel mileage sucks, could be true I guess. E85 is supposed to have a rating of 105 octane which would allow the computer to run more advanced timing....I would think someone on here would know, Id try it for myself if we had it here in Maine.

I believe the way the computers are tuned they don't take full advantage of E85. That said though I believe E85 has less energy that gasoline (therefore less power can be achieved from using it...)

I wouldn't trust a salesman to his word if my life depended on it! They lie through their teeth all the time. There is no way he was getting more power regardless of the octane rating which a lot of people don't understand. Your compression doesn't go up even though your octane goes up and though they may change the A/F ratios thats all they're doing on the motor. Mileage goes down and more air/fuel gets burned so you're converting corn into noise and smoke without all that added lovely power. NOBODY I've spoken with has run E85 and gotten more power, or mileage. The stuff is just garbage.

wish I woulda gone w/ the HEMI well I wish I had a 24v CTD but this was very low miles in my budget and its a Chrysler v8 so its powerful and reliable I'm happy

I guess I'm with the majority,I should have bought the Hemi.I've got about 9300 kms and getting no more than 12-14mpg city/15-17 highway.I'm hoping to get better mileage after about 20000kms or so.
