Default Ford vs. Dodge

Alright, I have only had this truck {2002} a few months and now I have a couple questions if anyone can help me.
I just got the truck back from the body shop {hail damage}, got in it and temperature in overhead console showed 130 degrees. Also compass was incorrect and stuck.

Since they replaced my hood and when I looked at underhood wiring, this started my questions.
  • Where is the outdide temp sensor located
  • If it is not located at rear of underhood drivers side, what hooks up there? I have the underhood light but there is a second wiring plug coming from the light wiring at rear of hood
  • I did reset the compass and it works ok now
  • All the other functions, mpg, elapsed time, trip miles are now resetting when ignition is turned on
  • searched forum here and found one that was very simular, this person said they unhooked their battery and when battery was reinstalled, functions were all correct.
  • Which leads to next question, my old ford would reset all radio stations and kill service engine codes when battery was disconnected for 5-10 minutes --- how long does it take for my Dodge to reset --- I had battery off for 6 hrs and still radio stations were unchanged which leads me to believe overhead console didn't die either to reset.
  • Does anyone know if a power wire runs to the overhead console for memory purposes when the switch is off. If so what fuse would that be?
Any help you could give me would be wonderful
Thanks James

I guess just cause I am trying to find the difference between the electrical system on the two. I have only only had this Dodge a couple of months, having owned Fords most of my life. I do enjoy this truck rather well, however when the battery is disconnected for over 6 hrs, what is the difference in the two brands? What keeps the memory in place on the radio? Why will the overhead console not reset? Is there some other way to power down the truck electrical system?
On my old Ford, 10-15 minutes disconnected and all memory was gone and any service codes were reset also.
Just trying to find the differences -- thats all.
Thanks James
