Default 2011 water leak!

Hey folks, I just bought my truck this past Sat. RAM 1500 Sport Crew cab 4X4, Black w/ Leather, SWEET/TOUGH truck!
HOWEVER, on Monday I found it leaks ALOT, from the roof only on the passenger side, I think its the roof seam, the dealer is trying to tell me its the 3rd light.
SO now what do I do? I want the headliner dropped, dried and sanitized, I want the rubber foot pads removed the carpet cleaned and dried, foot pads re installed, I want the rear seat removed, the hinges sanded and repainted OR the seat replaced. IS THAT ASKING TOO MUCH?

I think you own a sweet truck and that's good attention to detail. But good luck getting the dealer to do it for you.

I've heard other members talk about a leak from the 3rd brake light.

If it's leaking at the corner of the cab where the headliner meets the plastic trim peice, it's likely the 3rd brake light....here's how I fixed mine: I suggest you don't let them "fix" it with silicone, as it will be "glued" in and a PITA when you need to service the bulb.

I personally think you are asking to much of them, as far as the seat and carpet, etc.... and for your sake I can almost guarantee the factory paint on the seat hardware is far better than what they would do sanding and repainting. My dad didn't like a flaw in the paint on his front bumper (dodge stratus) so he got them to repaint the bumper with alot of belly aching and 1 year later ALL the clear coat and paint flaked off....he should have left it alone. If I were you, I would have them fix the 3rd light seal, and possibly drop the headliner, no need to go beyond that....also remember the more they take apart and put back together the more stuff they are going to damage(they WILL break clips and tabs and stuff by accident and you will find out years later).....if it is the seam leaking that's another story...

I was going to start a new thread but found this. I have had the truck since april. With the combination of heavy rains and the fact that I parked my truck backed into the driveway I got pooling water in the headliner above the center console. Really fun when I pull out and make a turn at 5am and I get rained on inside of my truck. Got an appt with the dealer tomorrow. Had to wait until then because their "Leaks Guy" only works on tuesdays. Really? A part time leaks specialist? I'm really not liking my service department right now.

lol. From other posts it seems like all the dealer does is hire some "water leak specialist" (aka joe schmoe's auto glass company) and most of those guys will just goop silicone on the seam....I don't want that on my truck...

Ask them to buy it back and see how things go. There are laws in many states that allow you
to reverse the sale of an automobile within so few days of ownership.

You don't want any mold or mildew in the cab. It makes many people very ill.

Make them clean everything you are asking for. After spending that much $$ on a new vehicle, everything better be damned perfect!
