Default Rear Axle Oil Change?

I'm wanting to change my rear axle oil and was wondering if there is a gasket under the cover or can I just use RTV sealant when I put it back on. Also, how many qts of 75-140 oil is required? Thanks

Welcome to this forumZ
replace the fluid with synthetic
i can't speak to the 2004 models, but the newer ones just use rtv

I went with an aftermarket cover with both fill & drain plugs, the drain plug is magnetic to catch metallic slivers
i won't ever have to pull the cover unless i see something on the drain plug

4.9 pints plus 4oz of limited slip additive (straight out da manual). If you use amsoil or royal purple see if the additive is already in it, you may not have to add it. No gasket, just RTV, even the Dana 60 I'm about to put in just has RTV.
