Default Normal Operating temps

I recently purchased a 2009 Ram 1500 SLT, 4.7L, 2WD, 34K. The truck runs great and doesn't seem to struggle at any point. However, my normal Coolant Temp is usually around 215 deg. This just seems a little high to me. I know it has the stock thermostat in it and wanted to know if this is something I should have looked at or if it is a normal operating temp? I live in Virginia and the summer temps are typically between 85 and 100 (depending on the weather). Is this too high? BTW, Oil temp ranges anywhere from 130-150.

Hi and a warm Carolina welcome to the best RAM ForumZ on the web. I'm not the first and won't be the last to ask ~ How about posting a few photos of your truck? I'm here to help you navigate the site, so jump over to the Newbie Checkin and say HI to everyone.

My temp runs between 195 and 205 normally.

as long as mine is a bit less than the center of the gauge, i don't even look hard at it
i have seen mine just above the center, weather was above 100F & it was a mountainous area
i just kept my eye on it & all was well, after a bit

My 2010 4.7L usually runs around 200-205, sometimes slightly hotter (it's been over 100 here last few weeks). Check to make sure your radiator fan shroud isn't cracked/broken, mine was when I bought the truck...The lower shroud on mine was cracked, it was like $30 for the new part from dealer, not bad....
