I would be careful pulling from there, when you see peoples bumpers bending down, thats from towing!

Agreed, I see no benefits to pulling with the bumper when its a wayyy better idea to just go spend the 150 bucks on a receiver...but thats just me. My truck is by no means new...its a 98 and I tow ALOT, and would never consider towing off the bumper. I realize what you are talking about with the bar running through the bumper, but still is a bad idea.

the bumper is NOT very strong, i would not trust it at all
if you have a receiver under the bumper, go to Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight & get a receiver hitch & ball

Just make sure it is installed correctly, seen one truck with a bad install and it tore stuff up and almost lost a trailer on hwy, not my truck.

most heavier things to be towed have a 2" ball hitch, you will find the correct size by looking at the trailers tongue, it will be stamped on the tongues hitch, along with the Weight usually

if you just plan on using the stock bumper, i would NOT go much over about 500 LBS trailer
