Default Opinions on Off Road Tires

I'm looking for a set of tires for my 01 1500 5 " suspension lift 2 inch body lift. I never would have thought it would be this difficult to find a good set. I started out with a set of 35" x 14 x 16 boggers, to me they just looked to small for the truck and on the road these tires sounded like a plane taking off, very rough ride. So I went to a 40" x 15 x 15" Mickey Tompson belted tires, they look great with the lift, the ride noise is very low, everything is great with these except the fact I keep getting pulled over for my tires sticking to far out, 15" wide wheels, they hang out about 5 inches.

So i'm looking for a good set of 37" to 40" tires, thin around 12.5. I was looking at the Michelin Military XML tires 38.7" x 12.5 x 16", although they have a speed rating of 62 mph and they wieght over 100 pounds each. I've almost given up hope here in finding a good 37+ inch tire thats not a complete off road tire. anyone here have any ideas?

I would call discount tire, or 4 wheel parts and see what they say, they could probaly help you a great bit, or you could always get some fender flairs so your tires dont look as wide!

From what i've seen with MT and nittos anything that tall has a width of atleast 14 plus. fender flares are an option, an otion that i'd rather not go with but if I had to I would. I had to cut and mold the wheel wells to fit the 40"s so a fender flare won't fit without some modification as well.

Anything bigger then 35 inch is goig to look way to skinny at 12.5 wide. Most tires that big are usually close to 14" or wider.
A buddy of mine had the military tires on his jeep and it did not like turning then even with 4:56 gears (he had 35s, he had super swampers on it)
I'm a big fan of the dynapro tires, ATM are a good all terrain tire and the mt really get the job done around our farm
I guess your not to picky about wheel size? Becareful with your offsets and rim widths
