Default 2011 Ram LSD/Locker

I contacted a local Dodge dealer and was quoted $1000 for parts and labor for installing a factory LSD in my 3.55 rear diff. I was expecting a higher price from a dealer, but with Dodge changing the rear axle manufacturer, I'm out of choices. Does this seem reasonable?

No gear change...that's even more $. No after market LSDs are available for the ZF rear axle in the 2011 Dodge Rams.

I am going through same process, $1000 is way to high. I was quoted $550 for factory unit installed, I would find a reputable drive train shop and get a quote from them.

If you are not in a rush wait for an aftermarket unit, I am paying $700 to have a Detroit True Trac installed as soon as they are available.

A Detroit Tru Trac is what I want...I e-mailed Eaton a few days ago about availability, but I haven't received a reply.

4 wheel parts quoted me $1100 for a True trac installed but two other rear end shops said it could'nt be done yet. I was pushing me the Auburn route but I was uncomfortable with them once I told them about my axles being different and they said"Dodge has'nt changed the rear ends in the 1500's since '98".

My two reputable shops are trying to see the details about the Eaton and both quoted $700 installed.
