Default 2011 Laramie 1500 towing 9000lbs.

What should I expect? It is rated for 10200 lbs. I got all the towing req's when choosing the truck then bought it. Now I am in the market for a travel trailer.

The one I have my eyes on is 7600 dry and 9900 loaded to the gills. I figure to be around 8800 average weight.

The Ram 1500 won the "truth" test when I shopped for the truck. Now I need real work experiences........

I have pulled an 8000 pound travel trailer with mine up through the ozarks of Arkansas and Missouri. No problem pulling. I had the swaybar with torsion bar system set up to. If you don't put the torsion bars on you will sag big time. It will pull it but it is real light up front and makes it dificult to drive.

I have pulled about 8000 with my 1500 It handles it well as far as power... gas mileage goes down but its working so... I installed Timbren SES on the back to allow for the soft springs. It rides good loaded and empty.

The tires that come on these 1500 trucks are not designed to handle heavy loads and especially trailering. I trailer heavy loads at times and swapped mine out for E rated LT's of the same size. The difference is night and day and makes the truck feel safer while towing. They are inflated to the factory 40 lbs and ride fairly comfortable considering. I can inflate them to 80 lbs if need be but have never had to. My truck now handles like a rock when cornering with a load behind me, it's nice and firm and feels made for the job. Prior to the change it felt like it wanted to go straight and it would try to over and understeer. I use both terms because some will argue the meaning. It did both because of the spongy sidewalls. With the old tires, you could grab my truck on the rear and shake it side to side it pretty bad. Try to do the same to your trucks by shaking the rear side to side and you will see what I'm talking about. After the change, you can not budge it. You have to change all four tires and not just the rears...that is a must do. You are doing the job of a 3/4 ton truck, so it would be best to dress it up like one.

Thanks for the info folks. Just too let you know was thinking about airbags post hookup inspection. The tires however I did not think about. I will Start pricing them out.

We are not getting the trailer until February or so and definitely not till the Truck is ready for it.

Still, love the truck!
