LOL, I don't know THAT much.....but thanks for the compliment haha.

A lot of people think since I'm 24 I'm full of it....but I've been around cars and motorcycles since I was a young kid and was always working on them with my father growing up. We also did a few old car and truck restorations. I spent a lot of time on the drag strip as well with him. I am new to the chrysler scene (I am a GM guy) but basically it boils down to a few concepts, and they are the same for any engine (naturally aspirated anyway). Most of my experience is with NA motors, some nitrous, and a little forced induction. I am not confident in myself to give advice on forced induction...

There's a big difference between the 5.7 and the 4.7 in HP gains with the SC tuner. I started off with the 91 tune too. And I can feel the difference between the timing in both. With the 93 tune the power is stronger on the low end but the same on the top as the 91 tune. Usually when you advance the timing you loose top end power, but not in this case, the top end power is still there. And the difference between the 91 and 93 Hemi tune is huge on the low end, I love it and it's staying, lol!

I've been talking with the guys at superchips for nearly a year, and they claim the only difference with the 91 and 93 tune is some more timing advance. They also told me when they dynoed them (both 4.7L and 5.7L and any other engine) that the 93 tune produced "no more real power" which means it's almost negligable. They said roughly 3 to 6 hp max for each. I gotta say that I don't really notice a seat of the pants difference, but I swear I get better mpg with the 93 tune, especially hwy....I just drove home and at 65 mph I was showing 24-25mpg on the evic (my evic tends to be accurate unlike alot of other pples reports). Of course my avg is still 18mpg lol

There's a lot of factors and I certainly don't know them all, but basically, detonation is a term that describes a spontaneous combustion of the remaining gasses in the cylinder AFTER the spark plug has fired and the mixture has burned. There are gases and some fuel left over and they combust due to the amount of heat and pressure in the cylinder. There are a lot of factors that affect this....cylinder head design, piston design, compression ratio...etc... but timing advance also affects it. When you run more timing advance, the peak pressure in the cylinder increases. It is strange to me but more timing advance (firing the spark plug sooner) causes more detonation(which occurs at the end)...they say this is because when you burn the mixture sooner it increases the amount of pressure and heat in the cylinder...

A higher octane rating means a fuel is more resistant to detonation (octane is the ability to resist detonation). That's why higher performance engines require higher octane (more compression and more timing advance)... Slight detonation pretty much occurs in all engines, and isn't necessarily detrimental, but if it's consistently load enough to hear, and under heavy load it can be detrimental. When it detonates, the explosion is extremely powerful and short lived, so it can actually cause damaged pistons/rods....etc...

I hope that was clear? lol

^many people confuse detonation with pre ignition (pre ignition is when the mixture combusts before the spark plug fires, and there are a bunch of detrimental results of this as well...)
