I'm so glad I've never made that mistake----NOT!!! Some of that Back to Black stuff doesn't do very good with rain/water and I've had it wash off and run down the doors and make a hell of a mess. I don't remember what brand is was though.

I would try a rag with an all purpose cleaner or glass cleaner. That way you can try to get rid of the wax stains without compromising the look of the plastic by adding shine where you don't want to.

after you use the back to black, the next time after you wash it, use turtle wax ice on the black trim....white problem is gone, and the ice lasts a long time

Thanks Cajun, I had some wipes here and gave them a try but no dice. Good to try though. The good news is that Back to Black worked like a charm.. Problem solved. Thanks again to all who came through with an answer. This is why I love this site!

For restoring or cleaning black vinyl or rubber i usually take one of those:

Meguiars Supreme Shine Rubber & Vinyl Protectant

or for "harder problems":

Meguiars Mirror Glaze #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner and Conditioner

works perfect for me

If you really want it gone get a wax and grease remover like your prepping for paint then hit it with one of the protector products mentioned

Black wow trim restorer is a very good product that usually cleans the residue and provides an excellent sealant/protectant to the black trim in one step. They also have a pre cleaner (but i have never needed to use it)

For tougher wax residue ive used mean green APC or duragloss wax eraser then topped it with a good waterbased protectant. Id stay away from anything silicone based. Poor boys also has excellent produsts with comparable prices of OTC crap. im going to try some 303 aerospace protectant when i finish my black wow. It has had amazing reviews on many detailing forums.
