Default "Real" CAI- Custom Inlet Tubing Mod

Well was browsing around a few threads, found out a way to run some tubing up to my CAI input hole in the engine bay.
I give props to blackramhemi (don't quote me but I believe its his thread) who gave me the idea. I tried using 4" dryer hose... garbage. So went out today got some 3" duct work and a few elbows. Damn did it work fine.

I didnt wanna cut a HUGE hole in my lower dam so I just slotted it out and it looks like stock still. Going to try her out tomorrow to see if she sucks any louder, we'll see.

What do you guys think?
Material:

All cut to size:

Ran behind the headlight (as close to input hole):

Ran to bumper opening (This was rough work, ziptied, foamed everything later):

Run:

Slotted:

Complete I sealed off behind the headlight with aluminum tape just to create a touch more suction

Already got her Planned! You can barely notice it threw the bottom grill. So I might just leave it. We'll see if anyone notices

And the portion behind the headlight is never seen, except by me so its alright

I had the same type of setup on my SS when it was a street car but I used to run it from the bumper to the TB. Worked really good.

Let us know how this does for you!

Right On Brother
Love It!

Here's my original mock up post for those that missed it:
http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=59630&page=21

The jury is still out on the benefits, I added a Fastman 85mm TB too,
but she looks a little too lean on my Dyno chart until about 4500rpm.
Probably worse when the air is rammed with actual forward motion.

Desperately in need of a Custom CMR tune that's coming up soon, just waiting for my JBA Shorty Headers to arrive.

The weather at the local track is not co-operating either for track testing
The DA is over 4000 today and I'm on my way out in about 20 minutes.

Intriguing...would it work with an aFe Stage 2 intake? The aFe uses the bottom half of the OEM airbox..
