Thanks for the input guys! This initial run will fill in more answers than all the questions I could possible ever come up with.... I think I tried making the process more difficule than needed... KISS comes to mind...

Really nervous about protecting this black truck...seen many which were neglected and it makes me shiver...

Thanks again...
I tend to have more IPA steps in my washing procedure.

So, you listed the brands of cleaning products for us. Then you go CIA on the IPA?

Spill it. The brand not the glass.

These all sound good, but what do you use and how long does this take?
How often do you do this also?

I just used some Lucas Slick Mist, worked really well. We'll have to see how long lasts, but I did the whole truck in about 15 minutes.

For those with IPA questions, IPA = Isopropyl alcohol or rubbing alcohol. All brands are the same. I get it from Target, Costco, or any pharmacy.

It is used to eliminate oils on the paint. When you use a polish or compound, it can leave behind oils that 1) hide swirls, which is not ideal when you're trying to correct the paint, and 2) it can inhibit the wax or sealant from bonding to the surface properly.

After each polishing step it is a good idea to do an IPA wipedown, which is a simple as spraying a panel and wiping it with a good microfiber. The alcohol flashes fairly quickly so it dries fast. That way you can evaluate how much correction was done. And when I am laying down a base coat of wax or sealant [not an additional layer, but the initial application], I will spray down the paint to prepare the surface.

Hope this helps!

Best best best sealant wax is "Swissvax Shield With Non Stick PTFE" Yes it's $200. But... The saying goes is that you get what you pay for

Maybe twice, looking for the best protection....
There is no "best" wax. Ordinary (and cheap) Green Turtle wax is very good at removing oxidation, smog, soot, road film, tree sap etc. So if you stay up on waxing (twice a year is a little lax) you'll do well to get the GUNK off with Turtle wax, then finish a 2nd coat (or more) with a more expensive wax and detail up with a microfiber cloth.

Next time you do this alcohol on automotive paint (I can't fathom it) - would you mind shooting and posting some video and photos?
I've been washing and waxing cars since I was 16, never seen anyone do alcohol on car paint.
Washing and waxing a vehicle isn't rocket science, just some manual labor.

This is why there are acceptable results and then there are outstanding results. You get out of it what you put into it, knowledge wise and labor wise. IMHO

And that right there puts a big hole in your credibility. How do you prep your paint?
