Default Magna Flow Exhaust Question

On their website they only offer a 22" muffler. I have heard that some folks have added the 24" muffler only and left all other things stock. Should I contact them and ask or is it only a part of the cat back package that I can not afford?

It sure sounds sweet with the exhaust modded, whether its Magnaflow or Flowmaster. I actually called the Flowmaster company and the sales rep told me flat out that the HEMI exhaust is probably fine stock. Dodge did their homework designing it. He suggested the 70 series as the other 40 and 50 HD made the MDS hum.

Truth be told, the Magnaflow sounds better on YouTube though.

Real world thoughts or experiences?

I just went to my local muffler shop and had my magnaflow put on for $150. I have the factory dual exhaust. It is an 18" body and sounds AWESOME!! I had a flowmaster on my last truck, and the magnaflow is not quite as loud, but has a much better tone.

The difference lies in whether you do only the muffler or do the entire cat back. Check out this recent thread but more importantly, look at the links I put in my post on the thread. They are by others, not me, because I am not an expert by any means. But they help you make an informed decision which is what I did. Either way, learn what you can before you buy and do what is best for you. Hope this helps and good luck!

Don't look by year or model truck...Magnaflow offers all their mufflers in various inlet and outlet sizes. That's the spec you should be looking at.

And it's kind of a waste to replace the entire system. I'd look at a simple muffler swap with the part of your choice.

I agree with the above^^^ I have a 22 in magnaflow 3in/2.5out SI/DO. It is very tame sounding, but definately not obnoxious, which was what I was going for. I left everything else stock and it cost me $175.

FYI, the factory pipes are 3" in and 2.25" out and Magnaflow makes SI/DO with those dimensions.

I did the entire magnaflow cat back with the 22" with the magnaflow Y pipe installed and it sounds and feel great. If you get into it you can hear it great, if your just cruising, its quiet like the stock. I love it
