my first car was a 88 caprice classic, that dad and i swapped in a 350. Didnt look like much but she did scoot for a boat. People look at me the same way, I even had a guy yell at me "THANKS DADDY" as i was driving through town. i turned 24 today with a 10 qc sport. idk why its so hard to believe that a young guy can earn his own stuff. lol

my first vehicles were a
Willys CAR, not the jeep
Henry J car
I drove my mothers 1951 Ford Custom to both 9th grade Jr High & 10th grade High School, when i missed my ride to school
then i bought a 1949 Chevy business coupe, not the torpedo style & then a 1954 Chevy Bel Aire for 11th & 12th grade
nothing fancy & none of them cost much, but i was one of the very few students that even had drivers licenses in High School

today both the Willys & the Henry J would have been worth a small fortune

That is cool, my high school unfortunately had specific spots you had to park in. Luckily the people on either side of me were respectful enough to not ding up my truck. It certainly isn't impossible to have a nice vehicle as a teenager. I drove my parents mercury mini van and dodge stratus through most of high school, and for senior year my dad gave me his 1981 F100 that we had been restoring since I was about 12, and he kept telling me he'd give it to me one day, so I guess once he realized I was going to graduate he let me take it. It was one of the nicest vehicles at my school, in my opinion of course, but I think a nice old car that you worked on to fix up is better than some rich kids brand new "tricked out" car that he doesn't even know how to drive...There were a few other really nice cars I remember one kid bought a POS GTO in the beginning of high school and by the time we graduated it was probably the hottest car in the lot. One of my good friends also bought a nice z28 in high school, paid everything on his own, that was a really nice car at the time (still is actually).

I'm only 24, and I still have that F100, now of course also have my ram, recently graduated, married, and bought a nice house, and the latest addition was my buell(that's been sort of my dream for a while). So it definitely isn't impossible, most that know me would say I'm very "frugal" with my money lol. All depends on how hard you work and how much you spend (or don't spend).

When I was graduating, I asked for a car just like all the kids in my school were getting one from their parents... My Dad said : "you want a car?" I said yes, and he said: "Get a job....lol so I did and my first vehicle was a MOTORCYCLE !!!! lol

^your smart, save on gas and insurance! My insurance payments on my truck in high school were outrageous, I think it was like $3,000 a year, and I worked part time at a salvage yard.

Hmmm... I remember having this same discussion when I was in school. My dad actually bought my first car for me, a 1987 Honda Accord. I mowed yards for a year to pay that car off - $1200. 15 years old. Sold it a week before I turned 16, and bought a 1985 4wd S10 extended cab. Traded that for a 1980 Chevy half ton. Working this whole time, bought a 1964 Ford F100 to restore, and also bought a 1980 Ford F100 to rebuild the inline 300 and drive every day while restoring the 64 F100. Sold the 80 Chevy, bought a 1980 Datsun 280ZX. Traded the 280ZX for my first Ram - a 1985 2wd with the 318 and Royal interior package. Sold the 64 F100 after the oil pump went out in it, sold the 80 F100, and kept the Ram. All before I turned 18

Nice parking spots. At my school we had the back half of the parking lot sort of sectioned off for me and my friends so nobody else parked by us. Nothing ever happened to any of our trucks and we always left in a convoy afterschool which was pretty cool
