Default Alpine Premium System

OK, so I just received my new, special order 2015 Ram 2500 . I opted for the Alpine system, for 900 bucks. Now that I have it, I want to know what the hell the 900 was for? It sounds better than the stock system in my old truck, but not that much better. I had switched my old truck, which just had the 6 speaker base system, to all JL Audio speakers, added a nice alpine amp, maintained the factory HU and it sounded better then this Alpine upgrade I just paid for. I was trying to save myself from a new install..
So today, I took out all the speakers, and geeze, they are the same cheap ones that are in the 6 speaker system, there was no upgrade there at all. Sure I have a sub now ( not a very good one) SO I am wondering what the upcharge was for.

I ended up switching out all the speakers and put the JL audio ones in this truck, with the alpine system. I must say, thatdid make a nice difference, sounds way better now.
What can I do with the sub? anyone know if I can just change out the sub in the factory enclosure??

The 2013 Ram 1500 offers an audiophile-quality audio system to immerse passengers in premium sound. Using Alpine high-performance speakers and an advanced digital signal processing (DSP) amplifier, the optional Alpine 10-speaker premium audio system includes:

•Three 3.5-inch speakers located in the instrument panel
•Two 6 x 9-inch speakers located in the front doors
•Two 2.5-inch rear surround speakers located in the headliner
•Two 6 x 9-inch speakers located in the rear doors
•One 8-inch dual voice coil (DVC) subwoofer positioned in a sealed enclosure under the rear seat

The owners of the HellCats are really complaining about the Equalizer & Subwoofer

So basically I paid for a bunch of electronic DSP and the same crappy speakers, wonderful LOL
Today driving into work, truck sounded much better with the JL Audio speakers I put in. Switched out all the doors and the 2 dash, what a difference. Ill check out that link to the sub. Did you just replace the sub and kept it running off the stock system? I really don't want to change out the whole system or the amp.

Yes, I changed out the sub and all 3 dash speakers. Left the rest of the system as it was, major improvement!

Question. what constitutes having the "12-channel amplifier with advanced DSP for 7.1-adapted surround sound" Is it in the 8.4AN radio or is an separate module/device? I swapped out the factory 6 speakers for the premium kicker ones a while back and boy oh boy what a difference. The bass is low and not farty and the highs are crisp and clean. Very happy. I just swapped my 8.4a for the 8.4an and would like get as much sound out of the system as possible.
