This is a great and very easy mod, i used the fram cf10729 Fresh breeze

* Odor Absorption - Arm & Hammer® baking soda combined with carbon embedded into the filter assist in cleaning outside air flowing through the vehicle's ventilation system

Keep that air nice and clean and its cheaper then the mopar filter!

I just cant get a filter in there without breaking it. I get it started and it all of the sudden won't budge. I have scraped my opening cuts three times now with no luck and walmart charges nearly 30 dollars for this filter. I havent tried yet but if i remove the fan will that give me access to get a hand on the inside to help slide this filter in? Also thanks for mentioning pushing the tabs on the filter housing cover I did not know this and was also frustrated because it will fall off or become loose all the time. So maybe tomorrow i will try getting that cover on! Please if anyone can give me a hint on getting that filter in! I have tried three times and about four hours trying to get one in!

this is a great mod for any ram owner to do to their truck, and a great detailed write up too. I performed this mod over the past weekend and noticed that it was a tight fit due to the location of the cutout. I dropped the blower fan out to make it easier. Now if I may add a bit of advice that I did myself, I would recommend anyone with access to a drill and a drill bit to use one. What I did was I used the drill to drill pilot holes about every half inch along the inside outline to make cutting with a box knife easier and cleaner especially in the corners. Anyone who has a dremel I suggest using it to make your life easier. With that quick added tip I will say from start to finish this mod only took about 25 mins, and I do encourage everyone who is going to do this to BE PATIENT and not get frustrated. Good luck to all!

Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner; I've been experiencing internet issues here.

If you remove the fan which takes less then a minute to remove, you have access to filter from the fan opening. Bare in mind that since the dash is in the way, you do have to bend the filter to get it in.

Some advice for those considering this; I origiannly put in the cheap $9 Purolator Filter C25869, which lasted about 2 months before we started noticing the filter coming out the vents. So, I'm switching to the Fram CF10729 charcoal filter, it's only $19 on Amazon. I would say just get the charcoal from the get go, worth the extra $10. However, the Purolator filter WAS somewhat dirty when I took it out after 2 months, so it is working. Just my .02, still a great mod overall.
