Default Severe Paint "Orange Peel" Issues

Okay folks. So I am finally getting ready to take my Ram back to the dealer this week. The first time I washed it by hand I noticed severe orange peel on both sides of the truck. I also noticed dirt under the paint in a couple areas. The hood and tailgate look fine. I took it to a nearby body shop to see if this was something that they could correct which they said they could. However, they said I really should take it back to the dealer because the defects are severe. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

It is kind of hard to tell in this pic. However, notice the difference in the reflection from the rear door versus the other panels.

I just had my 11 bought back because of a very bad paint job. My replacement so far seems much better. But I have not washed it yet. Lol I got my replacement on jul 16th.

I just had several spots on the hood about the size of a quarter where the clear coat came off on my 2011 ram and the dealership took pictures and sent them to dodge and dodge agreed to repaint the hood under waranty.

Dodge will be painting the tailgate on my '11 due to a good sized glob of paint under the clear. There is another, smaller one on my roof I am going to just deal with as they said they wouldn't recommend fixing the minor one on the roof at the expense of the factory paint?

Not sure if this will work, maybe youll see this post. I cant send private messages yet.

I just bough a 2012 , and didnt notice the defects till after i washed it.
I have 3 different types of defects..

Flaking on the front bumper, Mottling all over the truck in different lights. mainly artificial. Its silver metallic. and tiny pits in the rear bumper about 8 small pits.

How much hassle was it to get them to buy it back? my dealer suggested this and im waiting to talk to the body shop guy.

Purchased my 2012 Ram 1500 4 mos. ago. Have had it back to repair a run of clear coat down the outer edge of the driver door. They had to sand it off and clear the door. Now , I have noticed areas of the front hood where it appears not enough color was put on under the clear. Flecks of gold/brown. Dealer said the hood will have to be painted and cleared. GREAT ! Starting to get really discouraged. Consumer Reports states a lot of problems with paint and power equipment ( windows, doors, etc.) on these vehicles. Left Ford for the styling and pricing. Maybe you really do get what you pay for.
