Default Problem solved and a question

First post from me but my problem was this. I side gapped spark plugs and installed them last sat. Drove it sat and sun. Got in it tuesday and made it like 2 mins from my house. It started spittig and sputtering. So i rerouted my plug wires according to the tsb, changed dist cap and rotor and pick up coil. What solved the problem u might ask? I drop fuel tank and got out a lil over a gallon or sugar water. Yup i got screwed, but i cleaned everything out and now she runs. Me and my bro figured it out when we were testing fuel pressure and the gas didnt smell right, so we soaked paper with gas from the fuel rail and it wouldnt light. So after that and shes running now i was thinking bout putting some exhaust headers on her but my bro said aftermarket ones always cause problems with the gaskets. Is thia true? Is there a certain brand or flange thickness i need to use? Oh and i did buy a lOcking gas cap lol
