Default Air vent control

Hello, new to the forum ! I have a problem with my 1999 1500, 5.2L 2WD truck. When the AC is on and I am accelerating the vacuum control turns off the air thru the center vents and redirects it to the windshield defrost and when I let off the gas it returns to the center vents. Very frustrating. I assume that I have a vacuum leak but don't know where to start looking. Would it be in the dash switch or under the hood. PLEASE help, It is been in the 90's for weeks on end. Thanks everyone ! Eric

Definitely sounds like vacuum leak. Usually the vacuum lines somewhere on the firewall will dry rot, I'd start looking there. Just open the hood and look for any vacuum lines coming through the firewall or near the firewall that are cracked or worn.
