Default 1994 V10 in a 1/2 Ton

I'm in the process of a frame off build of a 1982 D150 SWB. I currently have a 9 1/4 rear out of a 99 ram 1500 being narrowed and installing a posi unit. I stumbled across a 94 2500 with a V10 and auto trans at a real good price.

I am not going to install as is, both will be rebuilt, but I am wondering if this is the way to go or should I continue looking for a good 5.9 to build. Not alot of performance upgrades for the V10. Have read where Viper Gen III heads, intakes and even a Viper forged crank, are being used, but I can't confirm it. I've even read about a stroker kit, that I can't confirm.

Looking to top out somewhere around 55-5700 RPM, not 4000, ~9.5:1 CR not 8.4

I am wanting to build a tire smokin toy, but not something that will fly apart doing a decent burn out. Plus I don't want it sounding like grandmas valiant, it's got to have a very lumpy idle.

So if there are any V10 addicts here please let me know what works. I don't care about gas mileage, not building a grocery getter/ every day driver, but I do need to pull a lowboy trailer every once in a while.

There should definitely be more upside to the V10. I have a friend who spent some time and money throwing parts in a 5.9 while he was rebuilding. He ended up being pretty disappointed when he was all done and he was beaten by a nearly stock 05 hemi QC.
