When this recall is done, a complete alignment is not done. It is a case of

"set the toe and let er go"

Not a bad time to ask for a complete alignment at a significant discount.

I got my recall notice today.... Had the tie rods replaced about 4 months ago due to them going.... I wonder if they are going to replace my new ones... Going to call the dealership in the AM to find out.

My wife and I put a BellTech 2/4 on my truck last week and had an appointment to get it aligned a couple of days later. When we got home from installing the drop kit, the recall notice was in the mail. I called the dealership and had them add the recall work to my truck and asked them since they were replacing the TRE if the alignment would now be covered under the recall. My SA said, "No, the recall will only take care of the toe."

I was a little disappointed at first but I ended up getting a 4 wheel alignment for $59.95 so I guess I can't complain too much.

Oh, they also rotated my tires and did their "16 point checkup" for "free".

So my question is will having the outer Tie rods replaced correct this problem and tighten up the ride a little bit.
Ray, just to let you know, my truck behaves the same way yours does (jumping all over the road when I hit a bump), and the tie rod recall did not fix that problem. Nor did new tires. So, I am basically attributing it to the overall way the truck drives.

Make sure your dealer actually changed the tie Rods because after bringing my truck in for the recall I noticed a major difference when I hit bumps. My truck handles much better now and doesnt jump to one side after hitting a bump. When I first got my truck it didnt react like that only untill about 2 months ago, then I got the notice for the recall. From what I understand part of the reason for the tie rod recall was because it was causing the problem I was having when I hit a bump.
