Default Wheel spacer/adapter installed

I wanted a more aggressive stance on the RAM so I decided to get me some 1 3/4 inch spacers (apapters)...whatever you want to call them. Going with 1 3/4 inch allowed me to use without having to cut the wheel studs. I like the look even though the wheels stick out a bit. Like I said it just gives it a little more aggressive look than with the wheels flush with the wheelwell. I got hub-centric spacers from wheeladapter.com...here is the direct link:

http://www.wheeladapter.com/dodge_wheel_spacers.php

Install was a snap and I ensured to use RED locktight. Ride is still as smooth as before putting them on. I haven't seen these used on the stock wheels anywhere online so figured I would share a few pics. I will take some better photos later outside. I just finished and it's almost 11:00.

i'd be curious to see if you have any long term effects from this. i'm considering 1/4" spacers so i can fit a set of 305/55/20 tires on. i'd be a bit cautious of 1.75" spacers. you're introducing a moment into the load-path that the suspension was not necessarily designed to take.

assuming 5500 lbs equally distributed to the 4 wheels, which is conservative:
(5500 lbs/4)*(1.75"/12) = 200 ft-lbs of moment at each wheel

I would be more concerned about bearing loading (premature bearing
failure) and body damage with crap being thrown up.

Yea hopefully won't cause any major issues. What's the difference between doing something like this and just putting wider tires on? Wouldn't wider rims produce the same strain on the bearings??? I'm not an expert in rim designs and would assume they are balanced, but I would think anything other than a stock setup would produce premature damage eventually to include different rims, lifts, adapters, etc.

Ive had 1.75" adapters on for atleast 20k miles now with a leveling kit and just started to get a clicking (front axle U joint on the drivers side I think). I would much rather have an offset wheel but they arent in the budget. I take the wheels off and double check torque every few thousand miles and have yet to find a loose stud

These truck suspensions and bearings are designed to use wheels using +25mm offset, you can probably go as far as +12mm offset without causing undo stress, a 1.75 inch spacer takes you effectively to a -19mm offset.
I have talked to several Mech Engineers at work and this was what they suggested. As far as wider rims it would not be a problem as long as the offsets remained in the +12mm to +25mm category.

That's my story and I'M sticking to it

If true it's a damn shame.. and the way Dodge designed the suspension on these trucks there are all sorts of obstructions that keep us for mounting even a 12.5 inch wide tire on stock.. which is bullshit for a powerfull V8 full size truck.

I've been discourged by two shops now not to change the offset in any way on my plastic 20 inch wheels for the same likely valid reasons.

I've been keeping an eye on my cheap factory goodyears and thinking of moving to 305/60/18s on 18x9 rim with +0mm offset.

I suspect i'll be fine.. but I'd like to take a moment to piss on a few Dodge engineers while I consider options

mine aren't hubcentric, its really hard finding 8 lug hubcentric adapters and for the price it's cheaper just to buy wheels
