Default 18" Magnaflow and Y-Pipe Installed

Got my truck back from the exhaust shop yesterday and boy did the exhaust make a difference! It is definately louder than the stock exhaust. Some reviews I had read said that it wasn't much louder than stock just a deeper tone. I don't find that true, it was significantly louder, and there is some drone at highway speeds in the 1500-1700RPM range. Even though it is slightly louder than I expected/wanted I still love it! Low end torque seems to have gotten a boost as well. All said and done I love it but if you were looking for something that wasn't much louder than stock you might want to check out the 24" muffler IMO.

As the muffler burns in it will change tone a bit. It gets deeper, especially with the addition of a cold air intake.

Glad you like the mod!

A cold air intake is next on my hit parade I just have to keep dodging the look the wife keeps giving me about doing all these mods and spending the money! haha A CAI will probably be the last big thing I do until the tires wear out and need replaced. I'll have to see after a month or so how the muffler sounds after it has been "burnt in" as you called it, see if I can tell a difference.

I am still undecided on which kind to go with, closed box or open box, or even just the factory with a drop in. I was thinking about going out and buying a K&N drop in from the auto zone down the street until I can save up the money for an actual CAI. So many decisions!

I have had my Mag on for about 7000 miles now, and it actually seems to be a little louder and deeper sounding than when I first got it, but not too much.

Don't get the drop in and I say that for a couple of reasons:

1. It's a waste of money if you are going to not use it when the new CAI goes on. Save that money for the CAI!

2. Open or closed is really an aesthetic choice although the closed systems (like Volant) do isolate intake air from the engine compartment. But, realize they all pretty much flow the same CFM.

I have the 54-10381 Stage 1 AFE on my truck and it works a lot better than the K&N drop in I had.

Schnitzel boy am I glad you posted this. I want the 14 inch but i do not want to hear it in the cab. so I have to go with the 18 inch. But I still do not want to hear it in the cab or after 3 hours of towing. Staring to get annoyed with the sound. One of the reasons I like this so much. It's relaxing on the highway. My last truck had a 12 or a 14 inch and man it got annoying. I loved the sound but on the expressway, it would start to give you a headache. Oh and the people in the back seat. They would refuse to drive back their for a long time. so here it is. I have the y pipe just need to meet up with people in the area that have the 18 or the 14. So I could decide on what to do.
