Default Better Mileage!

my girlfriend has an 03 liberty with a 3.7. im pretty sure its the same motor as the ram. anyways, she drives it like a grandma and only gets about 13 mpg and it dont run very smooth. kind of shakey idle... it only has 65xxx miles on it. i recently put plugs in it, fixed a vacuum leak, cleaned out the throttle body, and changed the air filter. is there anything o can do to make it better on gas? what kind of mileage are you guys getting??? thanks

I have the 3.7L and average 15 mpg, mixed driving, mostly highway though. I don't race it lol, but I don't granny it, either. Does she have any mods on it? IMO, and I'm no mechanic, but I run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in mine every oil change, too, but I'm sure others here will have some advice for you.

the only mods are the camo seat covers and the air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror. i forgot to mention the injector cleaner. i usually use tecron or lucas about every other month in it.

The mileage won't get much better. The rough idle is likely from a buildup of carbon on the intake valves. Get a can of Mopar combustion chamber cleaner (the kind in the spray can) or Sea Foam and follow the directions on the can.

After you run the Sea Foam through, you need to drive it for a few miles and really twist it's balls. Run it over 4500 rpm for about 15 seconds and then let it idle. Repeat this about 6 times and then cruise it for a few more miles.

Default fuel systen cleaning additives

What is an effective cleaner for both injector and carb fed systems that won't leave a cloud of smoke behind me? My new Ram won't need it for years from now, but my older autos could likely benefit from a dose every so often.
I"ve used Techron before and it doesn't leave an embarrasing trail of smoke, but friends say Seafoam does the best job of cleaning, but does smoke.
Whats a girl to do? Don't want sneers for driving an eco damaging smoke bomb, but cleanliness and effeciency would be so nice. What do you more experienced folks use?

Gumout regane or marvel mystery oil are also good products for cleaning fuel systems.

^ I put some marvel mystery oil in the tank every so many fill ups (whenever I think of it). Also sea foam every 50k miles or so in oil and gas. I put some marvel mystery oil in everything from time to time (mowers, motorcycle, etc....) as fuel anymore doesn't have as much lubricant as it used to.
