The stock intake is farily decent....some aftermarket CAI are better but not worth the money IMO....some are even worse and hurt performance as they are not truly CAI....I would recommend you get one in a sealed/enclosed box (like the volant I believe....)

I waffled back and forth on intakes for a bit and then decided to go with the AFE Stage 2 with the DryFlo filter. For $225 shipped, it was tough beat and kept the factory air box bottom and cold air (somewhat) connection. That and it does look pretty cool!

Not entirely true, especially if your truck came with a single out exhaust. The factory muffler is still restrictive when compared to a straight through design like Magnaflow, Corsa, and Borla. The factory pipes are very high quality, which is why most people with factory duals go with a muffler swap and y-pipe to reduce resistance and (of course) make it sound how they want it to. The same goes for the intake, a drop in will do well for most people but if you do a lot of highway driving or are doing some high horsepower mods then any amount of resistance you can reduce greatly improves the engines efficiency.

It takes air from the fender well, similar to the stock box.

Ok, it looked from the pic like it has holes on top and maybe a big hole in the front? Looks kind of weird but unique.

It does have an air entry at the bottom and one on the end. The one on the bottom draws air from the fender as does the one on the front but the one on the front is supposed to make the air go into a cyclone type action. It seems to work really well, that's all I know. And I think it looks good too
