Default Head scratcher PCM???

2001 Ram 1500 V6 starts right up after clearing computer runs correctly no codes or lights runs fine for any length of time. Shut it off. Restart 5 minutes later, check engine light on and code checker indicates incomplete monitoring of engine systems and internal pcm failure. Clear codes works fine again until you shut it off. I know just leave it run...... I bought this as a fixer upper and am not sure it has the right computer to start with. Ideas??? Thanks

My guess is that you've got a corrosion problem, and it ain't gonna get any better without intervention. I would look at the ECU, pull its plug and inspect the contacts, on my truck that I had a bit of trouble with a few years ago, a 95 with a body lift, the ecu was catching salt spray off the rt front wheel, and it had to be cleaned up and greased up with antioxidant grease. I then bagged the ecu and sealed it with emblem adhesive tape (it was handy) an all plastic duct tape would do the same thing, sort of. I wish you luck!!
