Default 206 cams in '03 Ram 1500 4.7L???

Hey guys, new to the forum and needing some info. I drive a '03 Ram 1500 QC with the 4.7L. I know my truck will run with the 206 cams installed without being tuned. What i need to know is, will it throw a code by not being tuned? And if so, any ideas on where to take it to have it tuned in or around Concord, NC?

ive heard that superchips tuning will work fine with the 206 cams but you also could get sct custom tuned and that would show the best results

I believe you could also do diablo sport custom tune...if it's available for your year. Doing a cam without tune leaves a lot of power left on the table.

to be honest, i'm not putting the cams in for the performance aspect of things, just the lopey sound. making a modern-day street rod outta my truck...the h/o and 206 cams will work without tuning, but if i go up to the 210, 212, or even 218 cams, it has to be tuned or the truck won't even run

It's up to you but it's a lot of work and money to not take advantage of the power...

Hello and welcome to the forum, glad to have you join us! Looks like you're getting some good feedback on your question and I have to agree, that's a good bit of work and money not to get it tuned and get the most out of the extra power but good luck and be sure to keep us posted! Lots of great people and info here, so any help you need, just ask and I hope you enjoy the site!
