Default Wax for Black Paint

Hey guys i was just wondering if you knew of a good wax made for black paint. I know turtle wax makes a kit but i was wondering if anyone knew of a different company that did this as well.

I did just buy Meguires NXT paste wax, I wanted to try this out any comments?

Thanks for all your input!

I use liquid wax developed for motorcycles called pig snot. I have not tried it on my truck yet, but it works really well on my harley. When it warms up around here im going to wax my truck with it. I also like Wizard brand quick detailer. That stuff is awesome, and it smells really good. Don't forget some high quality microfiber towels.

The best wax I have ever tried so far is "Pete's 53". I bought it at www.chemicalguys.com. It has 53% caranuba in it. Although my truck is dark blue, not black, this stuff shines great and looks wet. You won't be disappointed.

The black box! I believe its by turtle wax. It has everything you'd ever need. The wax also has a black pigment in it that really shines it up.

It doesn't matter what color the base coat is, the only part that you are applying wax to is the clear coat. For that reason it doesn't really make sense to use a wax or polish with a pigment. I understand what they are trying to do but it's never going to work, black wax on a clear surface? You never see companies that make quality products tinting their waxes. The all-in-one waxes like the NXT is ok, but something that tries to be everything is never as good as doing each step separately. Ideally you should use a paint cleaner or clay bar to clean the containments from the surface, followed by a polish, then protect with a wax. I have used dozens of product lines over the years and I have settled on Meguiars Mirror Glaze Professional products and have been using them for about 8 years now.

Dont they put the coloured pigment in it to help with scratches in the clear?

Yes, but the oils and polymers is the polishes are intended to essentially help fill or blend out the scratches in the clear temporarily. None of these products will remove the scratch, just how the light reflects off of the surface. Why use a black pigment to fill in a clear scratch when polishes were designed to do the same thing?

The black pigment is handy if you have small paint chips, they'll fill in and remove the annoying white specks you see clear as day on black paint.
