Default Biggest tire size without rubbing?

I just bought a '07 Mega Cab 1500 SLT 4x4 and have BFG All Terrains K/O LT275/70R17 and they look tiny on my truck... So i was wondering what's the largest size I can go without rubbing, I even took the stupid bumper shroud off.. I was thinking Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs in LT285/70R17 but not sure if I can go bigger

Now I'm also thinking about the Nitto Terra Grapplers in LT295/70R17... would these rub anywhere or would I be good at this size, apparently that diameter is 33.2

u should be able to stuff a 35" tire under there.

u can squeeze 35's under a 1/2 ton w/o a lift.

where u have to be careful is width. much over 11.5 wide and they might rub.

285 will def work, 295 is a bit of a squeeze and you might rub inside at full steering lock. Don't go above a 70 series tire...that's too tall unless you want to install a leveling kit.

I have the same truck, 4" lift, 285/75RX18 (35") Toyo Open Country A/T tires, KMC XD Addict 18X9 wheels with a +18 offset. No rubs at all but they are kinda close to the trailing edge of the front wheelwells and the leading edge of the rear wheelwells.

I have plenty of room inside for a wider tire if I so choose.

hmm, I think I'll go with the 285's thinking of the goodyear duratracs they have aggressive side walls but if i had money to throw around i'd try the 295's, dang... well thanx for the feedback

You sound like the same boat as me, I had a qc long bed and 285s still looked to small, 35s will fit but the 12.5 makes them rub on the control arms. The only way to stop that rubbing is to push the tires out and then you start rubbing on the lower part of the fender near the door.
Heres sorta an idea of how 285s look although the shadow sucks

Thats how it sat almost 2.5 years ago, its leveled with 35s now

295mm is 11.6" wide, 285 is 11.2" wide
I think 295 would be safe but from what I remember from looking at tires before it is an odd size and they are pretty expensive when you do find them

Leveling kit was $80 shipped from Hell Bent Steel. I ran them for over a year with stock length shocks with out problems, but I replaced them with shocks for a +2" lift, which were $45-$50 a shock and the ride is much better!
Those are 35x12.5x17, but my next set will probably be 315s. 315s are still going to rub but the rubbing isn't actually that bad. Our animal shoot is in a weird place and backing a live stock trailer into can be tough so I need all the turning radius this long of a truck has.
New set of wheels isn't in the budget yet so I have 1.75" spacers. It's not something I would really recommend, although I haven't had any problems they are only a temporary fix.
If your alright with a little bit of rubbing (which is only at full turn) then I would say just go with 315/70/17. You can do this all at a process, 35s or 315s will fit without a leveling kit
