Default Massive Dodge Mud Rig, Need Suggestions.

Hello, a friend of mine that I live with built a 1997 dodge ram 1500 sport, extended cab short bed for mud runs. It's got right around 16 inches of lift with 38.5 boggers. Last year he swapped out the half ton axles with a set of dana 60's out of a 2500. The motor is pretty much bone stock. He has a custom exhaust setup, and is running no air filter. (air intake was rerouted to draw air from the cab)

Him and I have been shooting ideas back and fourth of what to do to get more power out of it. He wants to shoot for another 100 to 200 horse. Doesn't have a huge budget, but does have some money to throw around.

Some of the ideas include, V10 swap, 408 stroker, remote turbo, and a couple other misc things.

Any suggestions would be awesome on how to get that 360 to push harder, or of he would be better off doing a motor swap.

I would pass on the v10, the power to weight just isn't really worth it and that's important when your playin in the mud.
I would stick to naturally asspirated as well for reliability

Anyone have any idea for hp/tq numbers on the 408 stroker motor? What about a remote turbo with the proper tuning and fuel upgrades?

Big money!
The 408 can pretty much put down the numbers you build it to. Cams, heads, intake, tuning the numbers itll put out will match the money you put into it.
You could probably see around 600 hp from a moderate build

remote mount turbo will be the cheapest and best on mileage. If you know how to build a turbo set up, than you are good, if not, check out junkyardturbos.com and it will give you all the info you need except for tuning. I know it is possible to use the stock ecu with a piggyback up to a certain power, after that I would go megasquirt or another stand alone
