Default Let's the flames begin. The new F150 is ugly and the Ram is beautiful

After much holding back I just have to say that the 2011 F150 is truly an ugly truck. There is nothing about it that strikes me as original. It is a generic cab and box design.

That said, the Ram still has sensual design cues. The notched fenders, bold hood and massive grille. The truck wants to be looked at. Don't even get me started about fit and finish. The Ram is lightyears ahead of both GM and Ford. The ecoboost motor is a great start but a truck is more than the raw HP/torque numbers. It has to fit. Design and performance need to match up to create an experience for the owner.

That's how a company creates lifelong repeat buyers.

Just my opinion but I have been a Ford truck guy my whole life. The last dodge that anyone in my family owned was 1972. A green Dodge Dart 225.

I don't know what happened in Fords stying department, maybe the Chi-coms are running that too. The f-150 is a flat-nosed uninspiring chunk of something that does absolutely nothing for me. The interior is no prize either, the cab seems smaller and the cotten-pickin' dash sticks out to where I bang my knee on it everytime I get in. We had nothing but fords on the Dupont plant I just retired from, and they are riddled with electrical problems. We had several 150's that the drivers airbag went off when the truck was started. Never did hear of a reason behind that. Couldn't keep lights working, several had some kindof glitch that the cargo light would not go off, some the dome light. I don't mind the looks of the bigger fords, but I don't need a truck that big. That's why I still have my 2500HD V-10 Dodge in the driveway, and my new Ram Sport under the carport.

No argument from me, either, been thinking the same thing myself for a while now......Ram has 'em all beat hands down in the styling department.

I don't think you'll get many people pointing flamethrowers your way when you start bashing on a Ford truck on a Dodge forum.

I like them, I actually didnt like the wait 4th gens looked when they first came out but they have grown on me since. I grew up in a ford dealership that my uncle owned till Ford pushed him out but my dad is the mopar outcast of the family. (The cummins motor is whats really pulled me to the mopar side)
When you look at it as a business though, the F150 released its 12th generation in 2009, since then over a million have been sold in the US alone, which is double the Rams sold in the US AND Canada since the 2009. People must like it so why change what works?
Not trying to be argumenative or start a flame war either, we all have are oppinions and we arent going to change each others lol

There is a reason I bought a Dodge Ram versus the other competitors trucks. I looked at them all.

I had a buddy who bought a new Ford. He did some very light 4 wheeling to get to a work site and broke an A-arm, this was within a month after he purchased it. He also backed into one of those yellow concrete pylons (prob 5mph at most) and it crumpled the whole left side of his bed (the entire left side or bed had to be changed).

I just don't see the value, options, and styling in the other trucks - now i'm only talking about 1/2 tons. I think the 3/4 and 1 tons are a totally different story.

This is my 4th ram and if Dodge continues to move in the riht direction I will most likely purchase a 5th.

Well I don't think you will get many disagreements on this board; I'm sure you would on the Ford forums though.

I think most of us probably like the looks of the truck we bought more than the competition, whichever one that was. So I don't really think those opinions matter very much unless you could show a large swing in sales based on looks. Where I think you are correct is the opinion I get from non-truck owners. I am constantly surprised by the compliments I get from people, even those who I wouldn't think would like a pick up truck. I've only had my Ram 4 months and I have lost count of the number of times someone has said, I don't really like trucks but that is a really nice looking vehicle. I happen to agree with them too
