Just performed this service exactly as you described, and everything went great. Bought the parts you mentioned from advance, 8 qts of atf-4, and went to work. I had no problems at all. Drove the truck up on the ramps, removed the pan bolts, and let the fluid leak out, slowly and gently prying at the pan to increase fluid flow as needed. This way when i dropped the pan barely any rushed out. It was sealed with RTV, but i used the gasket from Advance. Only thing I did differently was I spread a thin layer of RTV on the pan flange with a 1 1/2" plastic scraper and placed the gasket in place on the pan and let it bond for about 20-30 minutes. Then installed the pan, carefully installing each bolt with a 1/4" drive extension and a 8mm socket. Then I tightened the bolts in a crossing pattern, and I was done. It's pretty much common sense to not torque the crap out of the bolts. You shouldn't break any if you install them carefully. I also did not replace the small round seal as you suggested. It took 7 qts altogether when I refilled it. Thanks for the write-up.

I am thinking about changing my fluid and filters soon, and I was wondering if you think it is worth it to get the mopar filters. They are not cheap though, $18.10 for the spin on filter, and $31.10 for the other one. Seems steep if the advance auto one's work.

Personally I would at least get the mopar spin on filter. When I did the service I used the parts from advanced discount(~$75 total for filters, gasket, and fluid IIRC) and I have had no problems(am now near 70,000 miles). But after talking to transengineer about possible issues with the aftermarket spin on filters(drain back problems with the converter), I'll definitely use the mopar spin on filter in the future.

Thanks. I will do that. You think that the advance auto non-spin filter and gasket is fine to use though?

I have used A filter kit from autozone for my transmission on my 09, and it worked like a charm. Only cost me $19 for both filters.

I am wondering how easy it is to do the trans service on the hemi, being that the exhaust hangs over the pan. What a PITA.
