Default Stumped

Hi All, i have a 06 1500 4.7. I recently bought this truck about 3weeks ago and after a hour ride home the problems have started. The truck test drove fine and felt fine most of way home until i hit the highway. Once on the highway i felt what i took as a miss(more jerky felling though). Truck has 76000 so i figured plugs were bad. Once i got off highway and stopped i noticed what seemed to be like a shimmy in the engine while idling. It would be idling normal and you would feel this shimmy, like a miss i guess, but more of a stumble feeling. Ever since it feels like its missing\jerking upon acceleration(slow or hard) and there is no check engine light on. I changed the plugs, old looked good but just worn, and it didn't help. So i called a local shop with a somewhat of a buddy who runs it and he told me to start out cleaning my throttle body and running some cleaner in gas. While i was going through the tank of gas i was researching and found some info on tps and it was cheap so i changed it and the connector to it. Still no fix so i decided to pay to get diagnosis. After diagnosis showed nothing unnormal(tech said my passenger side was running a bit lean, but he didnt act like it was bad), he suggested for me to change front 2 o2 sensors. I started out with boush but quickly realized my truck wasnt able to leave shop with them(truck wouldnt stay running and threw bad passenger side o2 running lean), so i had to switch to delphi and the delphis brought it back to same running condition before i got there. And ever since i took it to them and he unplugged and plugged in everything my tranny is shifting weird. It seems to jump rpms up right before it shifts into drive and overdrive(like as its shifting) and now it dont want to go into overdrive until over 60mph but will go in overdrive fine over 60. It also will downshift to drive if i get under 55(fluid is full and clean). I dont know if i have a string of problems or a bad sensor or something messing up a bunch but im not sure where to go from here. Even the local dodge dealership has no idea. They all tell me if there is no check engine light on, than it cant be running that bad, but they have drove and know that it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start by testing the Throttle Position Sensor on the Throttle Body. TPS sends information and codes to the PCM so the TCM can read them and get your shifting = to Throttle Position. Also go back to the Dealer and get your PCM up to Date with the new Software.

i just changed tps and connector(week ago) and also just called dealership while reading this and they told me there was no software update for my truck. Another mechanic told me about the software update also and had me call chrysler and they told me same thing, there was only 3 recalls for my truck(seatbelt, airbag, front hub assem.) all had been done and nothing about a software update.

My truck acted the exact same way when my TPS went down the sewage. I know you just changed it, but is possible to get a bad part out of the box.

i tested my tps. On 20k setting on ohms, the tb sat closed it read .66 and wot was 4.17. it slowly raised like i read it was suppose to. i also did the 5v test with key on and it was also correct. is there something im missing or is tps working correctly?

Start truck and let it idle. Tap on TPS with end of a screwdriver, idle is supposed to stay the same. If it changes when or after you tap on TPS, its bad. Unofficial test, worked on 3 different vehicles for me. The idle/ engine speed is only supposed to change from TPS if the gear is turned. You can also try to run injector cleaner in your gas tank or have the injectors professionally cleaned.
