Default SRT8 Headers

Well they finally arrived! Kinda wished I hadn't gotten the second part as I'm not going to use it. Got the whole package for $200.00 but the freaking shipping was $350.00!! Shoulda just gone with the hi-flow cats and done the custom piping like everyone else does when they replace the Y-pipe. CRAP! So It'll be a bit as I gotta save for the cats and stainless pre bent mandrel pipe. Here is what came though:

Oh ya, Maddog, duty.. Lol!! I totally gaped there. That was including duty shipped to my door all the way from Stamford Connecticut.. Thanks for reminding me, plus it was shipped UPS..

Do you really wanna know how I found them?? On craigslist. There is not auto-wrecker in Canada with a pair willing to part with them. From Dodge they are $1500 for the pair. I looked and called around with no success, finally I thought maybe craigslist. So in the end I got'em from a fellow, selling his SRT8 Jeep with aftermarket exhaust. I emailed him and asked if he still had his stock manifolds, response: My wife says yes $200. So I paypal'd him and when he got to UPS the fellow from UPS called and I payed over the phone. I also have brand new MOPAR gaskets, Kooks O2 harness extenders, and Percy split lock header bolts. I want to order the hi-flo cats...

Is there anyone out there who can help me?? I'm ordering my cats and piping from:

https://www.exhaustsystemsdirect.com/

Now, for the task.. Which cats should I buy?? I know that it needs 2 O2 sensors, and it can be up to 12" I think.. Should I just buy new ball flanges as well? Or cut the ones off of the other part of the stock SRT8 exhaust and weld my own pipes on, then cats.. My Y-pipe is at 2.5" to 3" as I didn't intend on doing this mod when I started. I'm replacing everything from the headers to the y-pipe. Already done the Magnaflow muffler, and I'll do a resonator delete too.

So what I want to know is.. If all you had were headers on the truck and missing everything between them and the y-pipe or should I re-order the y-pipe. What would you buy? Any help would be appreciated

What is the outlet from the manifolds?

I would run new piping off the headers to where it bends under the truck, then put the cats where they can be straight and flat, then recreat the ypipe behind them. Its a PITA to try and mat a custom exhaust starting from the manifolds "in the engine bay". Plus with the cats under the truck instead of next to the block you can reduce some under-the-hood heat nad not cook parts

I'm not sure, and I don't have them at my place. I can't get to them till Monday or Tuesday. I heard that the pipe was 2.75" thou. If that helps. Maybe someone on here has done this already and could speak up lol..

Haha whatever it is, i would run that size pipe to at least the merge.

Seriously though, make your life easy and fab the exhaust to the point where it turns and then put the cats in if you really have to have them. trying to work with 2 1/2" pipe then cats then bend is a pain

What a mess this is hey bud! lol.. I found another site last night with pics of a fellow who did this. He used the exhaust out of a Challenger so had to modify the headers to fit, I do not but, he used part of the stock exhaust piping like I was thinking. His install job is sweet, but he's complaining about loss of some low end torque. He did a dual in/out muffler and did away with the y-pipe and ran the exhaust on the drivers side right to the back of the tranny it looks like then crossed over there. I was thinking I would go with the 2.75" exhaust right to the cats, then after stepping it down to a 2.5".. Can't find a step thou, MBRP makes a lot but not that one. At least I have the O2 extender harnesses.
I don't have air care where I am so I could hollow the cats out or just delete them, what about the O2 sensors and with a DSP how do I make it so they don't throw codes?? Crap what the hell have I done.

Oh and SS4Luck, just wanted to say I love your truck man, the LED's are badass bud! I ordered a pair of amber PUTCO Nova LED's for my front turn signals, think they'll throw a code? Should I get resistors? The bulbs were a tad expensive, 65 bux for 2. Also got their 6000K hi beam to go with my very soon 6000K lo beam And I bought a mini 12" Fire & Ice bar for the rear. But we'll need to talk about your lights soon enough as they look AWESOME!

Ok enough writing. Peace out guys!
