Default Question on stock rim constriction?

I have the 20s that are chrome "clad" and this thought came to mind today...

Why not get rid of that ugly hubcap and paint the underneath a nice matte black untill i can get my DPEs?

So does the chrome come off? I really really dont like chrome lol

and if i did paint the undernearth i would do it right with sanding/primer/paint/clear/yada yada before someone tries to point out it might look like butt after a few weeks

I don't know about the 4th gen chrome clads, but on the 3rd gen chrome clads the rim under the cladding did not look like the cover. It was kind of a rough and choppy looking rim. I would see if anyone knows what is under there before pulling it off as almost everyone I heard of doing this on 3rd gen chrome clads broke the cladding getting it off.

Oh wow, they look good under the cladding. I would go for painting them.

Wow, that thing looks like it came straight out of the sand cast for those. I'd get them powder coated.

brass wheel on your drill, brass is a softer metal than the aluminum rim so it wont mess up the rim at all but it will take off the glue

Wow really sharp wheel. I like it better without the cladding than with.
