Don't use the performance tunes while towing, I believe this can damage your transmission having too much load. If you're towing then use the tow tune (still need to run at least 91 octane I believe). The tow tune retards timing to prevent pinging/detonation and shifts the torque curve to a lower rpm. Still also use tow/haul mode if you have it (this is an independent function from a tuner).

If I have less than about 500 lbs in my truck I will keep the performance tune on. If I have more or it feels like it's dragging or I'm pushing it too hard I change the tune. I used to use the 91 tune with 93 octane because I often had 6 people in my truck (that adds a lot of weight fast) and wanted the extra octane to help prevent pinging/detonation. Lately it's just me in the truck so back to the 93 tune.

The guys on the SC forum that have purchased the advanced trans upgrade and use the tow tune along with it RAVE about how much better the truck tows. I never got into this much as I hardly ever tow. I do more hauling than towing.

What tune would be good while towing a 19ft boat with a full cab?

Whatever you do, make sure to get the trans upgrade. Being able to dial in every single shift point makes driving the truck way more fun.

Im not sure if I have all 91 or 93 in the truck so is it bad if I do the 91 tune just to be safe and there's 93 in the truck?
