So while browsing around the web for dashboard replacements, I came across a peice of what looks like carpet that sits on top of your dash.
What is the purpose of this? I would guess that they keep the temp of your dash more consistant and prevent the expanding of the plastic and cracking right?
If so how effective are those products?
If it counts for something my dash after 8 years in the AZ elements, looks just as it did the first day.
Dash cover is pretty much just that. a Cover for your dash to provide some resistance to the rays. Same as a wheel or full vehicle cover

Ahh, so would I be just fine by putting up a sun shade in my front window and tinting the side and rear windows to keep the heat out? This summer has taken a huge toll on my dash. When I first got the truck on april 20th I had one or two small cracks... after at least over 2 months of 100+ degree weather every day I now have like 8 or 9 cracks, and two big cracks.
