Default Exhaust question

For the guys with trucks that came with the duel exhausts, when putting on the new exhaust....did you just replace the mufflers? I see that some people just buy a new cat back, why?

I wanted a different set of exhaust tips and larger diameter piping. I went with the Corsa system because their fit and finish is better than OEM quality and I love the sound of them on the Corvettes at work and when I had one on my Camaro.

Unfortunately, Ive been waiting 6 weeks and I still dont have it lol

It depends on the budget/money available to you and whether or not you want a larger pipe. I wouldn't go too large on the pipe or you'll lose some low end torque. This would be the case if you went with a full 3" system from front to rear. If you use a 2.5" inlet/3" outlet muffler, no loss should occur.

Some folks wanted to keep their stock resonators as well to avoid a common problem, exhaust resonance aka "drone".

If you can afford it, go with the MagnaFlow CatBack Performance Exhaust System (#16869) and the Y-Pipe (#10778). They will make your truck sound loud when you want it to but not when you don't. I have very very little, if any, drone. And I am extremely impressed with the improvement in power and mpg. I think I am getting about 2 to 2.5mpg better. And I am WOT a lot more than usual for some reason. I had the system installed last Friday. The exhaust tips that come with the system are incredible, much bigger and better looking than stock. And it comes with a lifetime warranty. Find the best price online and then call AutoAnything. They will beat it by a dollar or two.

Here is my new system installed. Click on it for the video. However, the video sound quality does not do it justice. Unbelievable sound in person.

Hope this fits with the topic. What about just changing the muffler to get a little more sound? Pro's Con's?
