Default Strange vaccum leak rough idle?

Ok so I bought a 98 Ram SS/T last Wednesday. It runs great now since I did a tune up but the question is regarding a strange vaccum leak. It happens after I start it for the first time and let it idle. After about 5 minutes it develops what sounds like a vaccum leak then it idles like it has a nice cam in it. After about 5 minutes of that the vaccum leak stops and it idles smooth as silk. Also when I drive I can hear a vaccum leak but it runs really good so I don't know where to start looking.

I heard on other forums to spray carb cleaner/starting fluid on the vacumm lines and intake gasket area and so, if the idle races you found the leak. This is also a very dangerous fire hazzard if not careful. I have done it before on race cars I had as a quick find method but pulling and checking hoses is time consuming as well. I am wondering about my plenum pan as well since I am using oil somewhere but the truck doesnt smoke or leak so probly burning it at high rpms on the highway????

Could be the plunum too, but I haven't owned mine long enough to know if it using oil or not. I did do an oil change last week and only drained half of what I put in it. So oil is going somewhere and it doesn't leak so I think I may be doing a plenum repair when I get back as well. But today I noticed that when the vaccum leak starts while driving the A/C stops blowing cold. Anybody else have that problem? Then the vaccum leak stops and the A/C kicks back on.

Hmmm, I seen some threads on here where after 5 minutes the ac quits on them.... so maybe its a related issue? It would take me forever to find those threads again????

This is exactly what is happening to my 2001 ram 2500. The rough idle, air conditioning blowing hot air, everything. Does anyone have a solution? it would be greatly appreciated

I've had a similar problem with the vacuum leak, rough idle, possible iac motor on the throttle body. changed mine seemed to do the trick. not sure about the a/c issue.

I had a cracked PVC valve, after replacing it, still has the crazy idle. Ended up working on the door and replacing the battery hold down so didnt get anything done with the idling yet...Gonna try this week if i get a bit of free time.
