Default Frustrated flowmaster

Hello All. Took my 09 hemi to a referred muffler shop, I wanted to remove stock siso, install new magnaflow sido with custom bent pipes. When picking up vehicle, the muffler man informed me he did not like magnaflow and instead installed a stainless delta 40 flowmaster. The sound was just way too loud. I still insisted on the magnaflow, he then said it would be 200.00 more as the the tailpipes would have to be remade as the magnaflows spread is not the same as the flowmasters, he insisted installing a resonater ahead of the muffler, guess what? It is still too loud and he refuses to anything more unless I pay for the rebending, which I will not. Do any of you know of any muffler which will fit in place of this flowmaster and not have to rebend? I swear this muffler has killed some performance. Thank You

It probably did! If you told him to weld in a magnaflow, and he didn't....DON'T PAY HIM! Make him put in what you asked for and if he won't, keep the flow and go to another shop

I see so much wrong with this.

1) You asked for a Magnaflo....and got a Flomaster without so much as a call to confirm the substitution!
2) Install a resonator before the muffler !!
3) Wants you to pay again to deliver what you asked for in the first place.

Who does this guy think he is...the Government!

I would leave him with the following offer -
A) Install what was originally agreed upon...and get paid
B) Rip it out and return to stock, not getting paid, and I will take it someone that will install what I want.
C) Leave it in, not getting paid, and I will take it someone that will install what I want.

If he had an issue with that, I would contact the local authorities and ask them to come to the shop and determine whether or not I was being unreasonable in my request/offer.

This kind of experience just leaves me feeling sick inside.

Yeah, he's just ripping you off. I'm a fan of Flowmaster, but he should of informed you of that before he ever touched your truck. I would refuse payment until it was what I asked for or just tell him to return it to stock.

What kind of shop just decides for you what you want done? I wouldn't pay him and insist that they either fix their mistake or take your truck somewhere else who will do the work you pay them for.

Default Thank You for the replies, but.......

Sad part is, I had already paid before learning about the substitution, I will not return to him. At this point, I need to find the distance outside from outlet to outlet of the flowmaster and see what other muffler can be used in place. Was putting the resonater in front of the muffler detrimental to performance? It did help the sound some but I think performance has been compromised, Thank You

That's horse sh*t man. It will take 2 seconds to rebend whatever pipes are on it to fit another muffler. No, resonators are frequently placed in front of mufflers stock, however they are just another something impeding air flow.
