Wow this surprises me too. I do almost 100% city driving and am getting around 12 mpg EVIC and hand calculated. I'm going to have to try kicking the MDS off and see if I can get this to happen.

ALot of it depends on your location. I live in a very hilly area and my trips to work are 86 miles round trip. I get 16 MPG with ECO on and 18 with it off. These figures are based on the evic. I reset it before I start the trip each time and is always the same with in .5 MPG. I believe it to be all the hills I go up and down. So yea in my area I get better MPG with it off.

nyc is a whole different ballgame. no such thing as good mpg, keep the mds off, air up your tires to a little bit below max pressure and drive like a great grandma. gotta cross the gwb and get out to some empty roads to really enjoy and see what your truck is all about.

I hate to to be negative but we never bought a truck to get good gas milage to start with...lol...They just don't do good gas mileage. Toss in the bs flag here too on the 23 mpg with the truck I bought. It gets about 18 to 20 at best with drop in K&M filter and Mobile 1 oil with average speed of 75 MPH on I-64 and and I-75 from Ashland Ky to Pigion Forge Tn.no load or pulls. ECO light off and on but on for more than 75% of the trip.

Just saying 18 to 20 mpg for a truck is fantastic....suppose I could have got 22 to 24 mpg if I stayed in every ones way and drove 50 mph...lol....Cannot stand to drive 50 MPH on a freeway as many do! Really gets to me when you have people in the hammer lane @ 50mph or below the speed limit and no one can get around them!! They are always out there in the Hammer lane Lolly Gagging around on the cell phone holding all of us up. Same ones I bet on the two lane roads that do that and speed up when you try and pass them!!! Why is it always a Toyota 80% of the time that is the Lolly Gaggers???.....bet I'm gonna get it for that statement but Its true!!! We get stuck behind a big line in the Hammer Lane and when we finally get up there to see who the Lolly Gagger is we all start laughing knowing it will be a Toyota!!!

^ My 4.7L gets 22-23mpg at 65-70 mph....(with tuner). I know some hemi's can get that high too with mds...
I agree we didn't buy them for mpg, but it is nice that my truck gets a MINIMUM of 20mpg on the hwy, even at 80-90 mph (due to 3.55 gears). 17-18 city isn't bad either.

If you live in a mostly flat part of the country, MDS would save you a few bucks in gas. But, where I live is mostly hills. If I stay out of MDS while driving the tranny wont kickdown on hills. It will pull most hills in 5th gear. But when MDS is engaged it will kick down and burn more fuel. I just did a 160 mile round trip on highway and my gas mileage went up on the EVIC. Sitting at 16.6 MPG.

Mine say ECO "on" at about 73. Does this indicate its in 4 cylinder mode? I thought MDS stopped working at 65.

^I believe that's correct. I think when you are cruising, if ECO is on with the hemi then MDS is on.

I just saw my friend with the RT yesterday and he said if he goes like 74mph he gets like 21mpg and MDS is on, and if he goes 75mph MDS shuts off and he gets 15mpg lol.
