Default AMP under center console

Has anyone installed an AMP under the center console? I have a 2500, and when I take it all apart, there is room in there for an amp, just not sure about heat. I have an Alpine MRX65 I want to install in there to run my door full range speakers, I don't plan on having the thing cranked all the time, and this design of AMP is made to run cooler than older styles.
Just curious. I can always put it under my back seat, but was just looking to save the long wire runs, and save under the back seat for storage since I use my truck for work as well..

a 2500 owner as well so I know the space you're referring to...
does that Alpine have internal cooling?
If so you will have zero problems with cooling. If it does not have an internal fan, it's hard to say...those amps will go into protect mode if it gets too hot which is good.
running an amp too hot is the number one killer for an amp...
If the amp does not have internal fan(s), I'd probably mount it under a front seat just to be safe....just my opinion of course

You can cut a hole in the console and get a 12 volt computer fan from Radio Shack to help with cooling. Radio Shack has many sizes to chose from.

It is a class D amp, and the shop I bought it from said I would probably be fine.
I also though about adding a 12 volt fan inside there, not sure if I want to cut a hole in the console though, maybe just add the fan in there. I guess I can always but it in there and worse case scenario, if it doesn't work out, I can move it under one of the seats, or under the back seat. Autokraft, did you mount one under your front seat? I know the jack is under the passenger side seat, so that is out, and I want to say I have a vent for heat under my drivers side, where were you referring too?

So today I just took the center console apart. No room after all..started running worse for an install under the drivers side back seat. Should work out nicely

I have an amp rack behind my back seats on the back wall holding my four amps...works great, plenty of cooling, stealth and virtually impossible to steal (knock on wood)
I made my suggestion based on how you said you didn't want to run long wires to the back.
I personally would not mount amps under my front seat cause here in the midwest we get a lot of snow and the carpets can get wet and I would be pissed if my amp(s) got wet....on the back wall, they are very safe and out of sight

Yeah I didn't want to but looks like I had to. Under the back seat right agains the back wall. Fits nice out of the way and I have access to the controls on it. The fun begins now why I try and inter grate it into the factory radio
