Default Intake and Exhaust worth it?

Since Superchips is still currently working on a programmer for the 2011 would getting just an intake and exhaust be worth it?

For the intake should I go with a whole kit or just get a drop in? If I got a kit I was thinking about getting this one:

http://www.airaid.com/ProductDetail....ductID=301-232

As far as exhaust goes I would get a Magnaflow single in with dual out.

What I am wanting to achieve is better performance before I hit 3000rpms (feels like a turbo kicks in when I hit 3000). I would also like better fuel mileage. Would getting these things achieve what I am looking for?

Or should I take out the 3.55 gears and just install the 3.92 gears since about 75-90% of my driving is city anyways and there are some hills along the way?

Intake and exhaust will help, but it's not going to make a day/night difference. If you plan on getting a tuner for sure once they come out then it would be wise to do intake/exhaust. I use the airaid jr kit http://www.airaid.com/ProductDetail....ductID=300-725 and it works great. It fits our trucks, you just have to buy another coupler and it fits perfectly. I bought the pieces separate (about $90 on amazon for the tube and about $50 on ebay for the filter and I got the oil free filter). Magnaflow would be a great choice for an exhaust.

The intake and exhaust will definitely help but the nature of a small displacement engine is that you have to wind it up to get some power. Gearing would probably be more noticeable honestly....and I'd go with either 4.10 or 4.56 if I were you...

Would love to go with 4.10 or 4.56 but with the new axle they put in the 2011 its a waiting game for new ring and pinions. Thanks for the info about the intake and exhaust.

Oh I see. Could you find maybe an RT axle with 4.10 at a wrecking yard and swap the whole axle? Might take some time to find one...but may work. I assume they are interchangeable as a whole unit.

I don't think adding these 2 will help w/fuel mileage. I think it will do the opposite. Any one else now this for sure?

It will help a little if you are easy on the gas. They will make the engine more efficient...go for it!

yeah they definitely won't hurt as long as they are done right, and they should help slightly, but I wouldn't do them as mpg being the prime reason.

Intake and exhaust are always good mods to have. Almost all engine mods that come later will perform better with a better flowing exhaust and a good intake. Go for the full intake over the drop in filter.

Almost any internal combustion engine will make more power and efficiency will be improved by the addition of a freer flowing intake and exhaust.

The problem with mileage is that you like that new found power and can't keep your foot out of it.

But, yes, they will help in both categories.

And don't expect much with a drop in. If your goal is to improve power and MPG, do a full cold air intake kit.

I've noticed that too..after about 3000 rpm there does seem to be a boost in perfomance...why is that?
