What plugs are in it? I'd assume autolites are copper...gap is correct, right? Could just be a dirty sensor on the TB(IAC maybe), or just a dirty TB itself. Did you clean it? A faulty O2 sensor could cause issues but usually there is a code and other symptoms as well. How's mpg?

EDIT: Sorry just saw you said platinums.

yea, they are platinums and the gaps were all at .040. I did clean the TB butterflies (the underneath were black) but not really anything else. The only code its throwing out it P0138.

Ok so that's "P0138 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2" which could be a faulty O2, or something with the O2 sensor's harness maybe. Or possibly the catalytic converter since that is a post cat sensor(but I would think it'd be a catalytic efficiency below threshold code if that were the case).

Well I just bought some autolite copper core and checked the gapping, I'll install them when I leave work and see if it makes a difference. my fingers are crossed.

I doubt it, that code would not be caused by spark plugs.

I wasn't worried about the code, I was worried about the stuttering. I asked if the o2 sensor could cause the stuttering.

I put the new plugs in with the correct gap and everything is fine. When I put the platinums in I couldn't find my gap checker, so I put them in trusting the pre gap was correct, I was wrong. Platinums checked out at .050!

Thanks for your help

Gap should be set at .035, not .040. BTW, in stock form..you won't see any gains from 89 and 91. Unless you have a custom build. I run 89, to help stop some pinging. When it gets colder, I run 87 or 89.

actually no, its supposed to be at .040, at least thats what the sticker under the hood says.

and now that I've done the fix to the plenum and givin it a tuneup, I can run 87 octane without pinging.
