Default Radio and Dash Question for 2010 Ram

Okay, so I am in the process of purchasing an aftermarket radio and the one that I am most likely going to get is the Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. When I talked to company who is selling me radio they said it would fit but I will need harness and kit though. So what I am wondering what do I need to get this radio installed and the radio is 7". So if anyone knows can you please let me know so I can get the install done as soon as possible.

I'm surprised the place selling you the head unit can't provide the needed harnesses and hardware, or at least tell you what you need to purchase... that sounds a little strange to me.

Have you considered buying elsewhere from an outfit that can provide everything you need for the install?

Well it is a friends company that sells audio stuff and he is doing the radio special for me due to being a friend of his good friend. So he wasn't 100% what I would need but the price he is giving me is so good that I just want to find out what the other stuff is exactly and how much that will run me.

Cant answer specifics but most new vehicles require a mounting kit and adapter harness as the wiring and exact dimensions usually varies from factory. Maybe someone can give you exact part numbers from a supplier.

Taken from Crutchfield Webpage for your Pioneer Radio: Installation Details

To install this product, you’ll have to modify your vehicle.Modifications to your vehicle's sub-dash are required.
This Crutchfield kit may interfere with some fold-down face receivers. Modifying the Crutchfield kit or fabricating a spacer may be required.
The factory navigation system will be lost if radio is replaced.
You'll lose factory SIRIUS Satellite Radio capability if you replace the factory radio.
If your vehicle is equipped with a factory hands-free cell phone interface, it will be lost if the radio is replaced.
Because of the way your vehicle is wired at the factory, we recommend that you purchase a connection adapter to eliminate the need for extensive rewiring when you install your new stereo. PAC C2R-CHY4 $129.99

Putting any aftermarket radio and using the factory wires you will allways need a wiring kit/harness as far as the fit im pretty sure you will need a kit check best buy/crutch-field/

just a question.
what are you gaining by switch radios?
is it worth the time, effort and expense?

i looked at getting that head unit also. you are going to need to trim the dash to get it to fit since its a double din size and i think the stock is like 1 3/4 din. if you know how or know sombody thats good with trimming and sanding it isnt to big a deal, but just make sure you wanna do that. im gonna be doing it to mine eventually, but thats gonna be how to. also you will need a high speed bus adapter to get the full functionality and if you want the ability to watch dvd's while moving (not that its really condoned) there is another parking brake bypass cable that u can pick up pretty cheap on ebay. crutchfield has the package...minus the bypass cable so u can look at to see what is all needed. hope this helps

How's it going, i recently changed my head unit out. I have a 2010 quad cab slt with no steering wheel controls. I purchase a pioneer avh p3300bt head unit. I needed the mounting kit, as well as the wiring harness and a antenna adapter and a parking brake bypass so i could view the video mode while in motion, that was for my son he could watch videos. The wiring harness was like a 100 dollars the antenna adapter was around 15 and the mounting kit was like 25 and the parking brake bypass was about 8 dollars. not too bad overall, i got the head unit for 330 from ebay. You will have to cut the subdash but not the radio bezel, overall a pretty easy install. I hope this helps.
