I used my old Nikon D200 with a 70-200 2.8 VR lens and and a 18-105 lens for the closer shots.

It was my first DSLR. My dad bought it from me when I upgraded to a D3 (then traded for the smaller D700). I shot D1 sports for a few years in college and kind of lost the enjoyment of photography and sold my D700 last year. I figure if I take a break from photography for a couple years I'll eventually buy another camera and enjoy it again. I decided to keep my lenses though.

always keep the lenses, they're more expensive than the camera lol Nikkor makes some of the best lenses around. Even if you change to a different type of Camera there's always adapters that offer full functionality

This is a true story.....my dad wants to give me his older Nikon D700 but with no lenses....like WTF? Haha
Trying to squeeze in at least a lense from 25-200 range to start with and work my way up
